Sony DVP NS-999ES v. Denon 3910

I recently bought a Sony DVP NS 999 ES. There is a problem with the IR receiver so it got sent back for replacement. I was very happy with the picture and it sounded great for 2 channel stereo (which is important to me) when coupled with my B&K 507 S2 and Definitive Technologies BP 7001 SCs. I recently read the review on the Denon 3910. It sounds like a great unit, but the review here on the Sony was also glowing.

I'm not particuluary interested in the additional features of the Denon other than the SACD bass management. My 73" Mitsubishi diamond scan doesn't accept DVI or HDMI so features realted to those connections aren't important to me.

The question I have is purely about picture and sound quality. I was very happy with the Sony, however, alot of people on this board seem to favor Denons. Does anyone have any experience with both players? Are there any technical specifications that relate solely to video and audio that would seem to make the Denon a better player on paper?

I'm relatively new to all of this stuff so any imput would be appreciated.

Thanks for the advice....it made my decision easy. I just called and am having the Sony replaced by the Denon. It only cost $280 more ($700 v. $980) and seems like a better piece to match with the B&K and Def. Techs. I also think the SACD bass management will be a much welcome feature. I have to wait a week longer, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
