Mom needed a simple HTIB so I went out and got a good deal on the sony dav-x1 for $599 on boxing day. He sold me component cables for vid and a digital optical cable for sound. The TV in question is a 42" Hitachi rear projection. It has connections for stereo, component, and s-video. I hooked up the component cables from the sony dav-x1 straight into the tv. The only option for the digital optical cable was from the PVR out into the sony dav-x1 for sound.
The system works good for DVD but since we get alot of movies through the PVR, we like to have it on for that as well. The problem is; I came upstairs and my mom had the sony system almost full tilt on a PVR movie that shouldn't need the volume that high; but this movie was a romantic comedy and it seemed to need the extra volume just to hear it comfortably. In anycase, the static from having the speakers that high was soooo noticeble and annoying that I started to question the purchase.
I'm thinking if I had the option to plug directly into the TV instead of the PVR it would be a more direct route, hence better sound. But, I only have the stereo inputs on the TV for extra speakers.
Frustrated.
Thanks
Matt
