Sony CDP-C245 problem.

Ok, this was a great player, but recently (on last Tuesday), I would push Disc Skip and the player would keep spinning and spinning untill i turned it off. Even then, after turning it back on, it would still spin. Also, when i would push Ex-Change, it would spin as well. It would even spin past the tray were the disc that would be playing should be, which its bnot supposed to do. Yesterday I stopped it once from spinning by pushing the play button.


Is there any way i can fix this or is it junk? I dont really need it fixed ( i plan on buying a DVD player which I can play my CD's from), but still...

Unhooked it and am going to throw it out. I will buy a DVD player to play DVDs and CD's. Not a Sony though.

Wish you had found out the solution. I have the exact same model and mine does the exact same thing and only Disc 1 and Disc 5 can play discs now.

I guess I can't complain, it was bought it in 1994 with other seperates. At least I know now that it is a common bug, I have been tempted to get out a screwdriver and see if there is anything obvious but I know how that would end up.

Can anyone help?

Heck, if you're going to throw it away, you might as well take it apart just to look inside...unless, of course, you already know what's in one or just don't care. I have a CDP-225, but I stopped using it about seven years ago because the CDs would make a high-pitched whine when they'd play. Thing was great when it worked though, just like yours.

I had a similar problem, ended up being a damaged cable. It was $80 to fix (cable was $19) and it kept working after that for years and then I gave it away. Unfortunately, a new player isn't that much more... If you got 5 or more years out of it, I wouldn't complain. I got at least 10 years out of mine, so it more than paid its dues.

I have a Sony CA70ES I might be interested in selling...original box, manual and remote.
