I am considering these two blu ray players. Forgive me for my ignorance, but is there one that is much better then the other. I like that the Sony is not very high, but willing to get something that is taller for a good product. I know that Sony in general has a faster processing speeds but if you compare these two head to head and I would be hooking it up to the Onkyo TX-SR606.

Is this a good reciever for someone who isn't looking to blow a wad on a reciever?

I would take the Pio many times over the Sony. But a wise man would wait until April and get the new Pio 320FD. One of the weaknesses of the 51fd is error correction (reading scratched/smudged discs), and I bet the new Pio will have a better drive. Otherwise, I think the guts are the same and MSRP is substiantially less on the new player.

Is there any reason you're not considering the Panasonic DMP-BD55 or the Samsung BD-P2550? If you haven't yet purchased your receiver, to what speakers are you connecting the receiver?

THe speakers are currently Infinity TSS - 500 series. I know they aren't the greatest. For now they do. I def want to upgrade those eventually but we will see. I want to upgrade eventually to a 7.1 system but not right now.

About the other two blu rays, i was under the impression that hte panosonic and the sony were the best. I don't have any specific reason for not considering the ones you suggested except for the fact that the two i mentioned were mentioned to me.

THanks again
