Sony and Cable Card

I spent over 3 hours with my Cox Cable installer yesterday trying to install a cable card. My sony KD-30xs955 sees the cable card just fine, but I can't receive any of the digital channels. Cox tells me it is a firmware problem, but when I contact Sony via their online chat system they tell me that there is no firmware upgrade. The cox installer redid all of my connection and tested for signal strength and everything is fine in that regard. My over the air tuner works just fine and my cable tuner works fine with the cable card removed (I even get an upper channel in 1080i).

Any thoughts or suggestions on where I can look for more answers?

It appears the bugs haven't been worked out of the cable card system yet, especially on the cable company side of things. You might have to go with a standard cable box for now until the techical issues are worked out.
