I just took the plunge into HD. I bought a Sony 60" rear projection XBR1 and a Yamaha 5990 A/V receiver. I am going to be getting the Directv HD-Tivo and HD-dish installed next week. But first, I connected my current SD DirectTivo (SAT-T60) to the Yamaha via s-video and digital audio and then used HDMI to connect it to the TV. When I do this, I get intermittent video dropouts. Usually the screen goes black with a green stripe and then all black, and then back. It can occur frequently or go 10 minutes or so without. To get around the problem, I hooked it up to the TV via S-video from the Yamaha, instead, and no issues. I am upscaling the output from 480i to 480p when I am using the HDMI cable, and it looks WAY better. I am planning to keep this receiver hooked up even after I get the HD one, so it'd be nice to know if there's a fix.
