I have a pair of Sonus Faber Concertinos and I absolutely love them. They are hooked up to a 1974 Marantz receiver and sound awesome. I really can't explain how good this setup sounds to me.
I want to have some sound in my kitchen off of this receiver, but want something hidden or not very visible. I have speaker cables run (previous owner), but surface-mounted speakers that I have listened to are poor sounding. I'm thinking about putting a center Sonus Faber (by itself) above the refridgerator, which would be hidden. My question is whether the Sonus Faber center speaker (by itself) would sound funny. I'm not looking for something perfect sounding...just something reasonably nice. With kitchen fans and all the noise of cooking, getting this space (long and narrow) to sound good will be next to impossible. I've looked at in-wall speakers, but those scare me ... especially with opening up walls in my 1912 house (you never know what you will run into).
I've thought of a small speaker setup like the Bose Acoustimass...but I can't bring myself to get this setup. They look nice, but I'm not impressed with their sound. I've also looked at the Monitor Audio Radius 90...but these stick out and are kind of ugly.
If the Sonus center by itself sounds reasonably good, I have the flexibility of reusing this center channel sometime in the future as a home theater if I choose to do so.
Can I hook these up to "Speaker B" setup? Would it be mono? Is this a "normal" speaker...or do you have to use it with other speakers?
What do you think?
