So I am in the process of putting together a whole house audio setup and I want to be able to access Pandora and xm radio. I have a main stereo in my living room, a home theater setup in the downstairs den, and I would like to add in ceiling speakers to my bedroom and master bath. I am going to try to connect the upstairs to the downstair system with cat5 and baluns to convert the signal back the rca. As for the bedroom.
1) If I choose the Sonos connect, from how far away can I control it with my iphone? I do like to sometimes listen to music from bed at night and I am not sure how I can integrate the ability to control the source located in the living room from the bedroom approximately 40ft away.
2) Would a Sonos connect and a bridge accomplish this much better than some of the cheaper bluetooth systems? I have seen some for as little as $40. The Sonos is $350.
3) Aside from the ability to add wireless speakers which I am still holding out the possibility of doing, what are the advantages of the Sonos vs the cheaper bluetooths?
4) Would it be better just to buy a reciever like the Onkyo 8050 for the bedroom and network it in with cat 5 from the living room to control the bedroom and bathroom speakers?

Thanks

Jon

1.The Sonos needs an Ethernet connection. Your range will be as good as whatever wi if setup you have.
2. The Sonos will outperform Bluetooth in both range and sound quality.
3. The Sonos won't require constant streaming from your handheld device.
4. It's possible, but it does mean pulling cat 5 and speaker wire.
