I dunno...using the *vinyl master* as the CD master? Why not make an audiophile-quality CD master from the original master tapes, that exploits all of CD's superior dynamic range, rather than just vinyl's?
What's funny/sad about this is, the mudcrutch team are basically going back to the way things were done in the 80's, when few record companies bothered
to excavate the original masters, and used vinyl production masters instead.
This is one of the things 'remastering' was supposed to CORRECT.
I won't be picking this album up, not because of the way it's mastered, but because Tom Petty's music bores the living heck out of me.
