Some receiver opinions

I am waiting on buying a new receiver if ever available. In the past I've owned a Yamaha back when all we had was 5.1 then I Bought a Pioneer elite back when it was Pioneer 2006 I believe. A vsx-84. I would like to have another Pioneer elite or possibly try one of the new Onkyo RZ50 but they are both owned by Voxx and if your as old as I am Voxx is what was Audiovox back in the early 80 and was the cheapest crap ever made especially in car audio. So that has me worried some. I like Yamaha quality heck Ive worked for Yamaha twice but in powersports but something about the sound I didn't quite like and actually my old Yamaha is in my business shop and using 7.1 and still going dust and all. Opinion's?

That's been the general worry around here with them, also before when Onkyo/Pioneer had their financial troubles even before the change to Voxx. They weren't helped out much by the reputation from their big problem with Onkyo/Integra products back 2009-12 with the hdmi/network board issues (but they did take care of things with an extended warranty, I have such a unit and its been running like a champ since the repair). Many around here swear by their Yamahas. I like Denons (have two) myself but still have my Onkyo and a Sony, too. Mostly you'll find recos for the Yamaha, Denon and Marantz brands here.....I would love to see Onkyo come back as a value-packed brand, especially with the Dirac implementation. Take one for the team! :)

What interest me with the Onkyo 50 is man that's a lot of bells n whistles for the money. I am very hppy with the sound of my old pioneer but it doesn't have Atmos and it will not pass a 4k signal either just 1080i So I have a audio extractor that splits the hdmi one for tv one to receiver. Time to upgrade. Dang that covid!
