Some pics of a buddy's DIY bookshelfs

He was experimenting with finishes and I think they came out with a pretty cool and unique look to them. This is from my buddy who is responsible for pointing me in the direction of GR so he is the reason why I own those speakers. They are Dayton ref drivers with another DIY'er's plans. Obviously, they don't dig deep being so small, but what they ARE able to do is throw a HUGE, deep sound stage. They are extremely clear, even at very elevated levels, though they are fairly low in sensitivity, I think he said 86dB. They have excellent midrange detail, and that was the focus for him. Super clear and go low enough to easily blend with any decent sub.

Thanks for posting those, John! Nice to see DIY gear and know what's out there. I really like the finish, although the black outline on the edges is a bit thicker than I prefer. Do you know how much they ended up costing him to make?

He said it was his first time Trying the edging. Looked OK to me, but he said he could have done better :) I don't exactly recall how much he said he had in, but it wasn't too much. I think the drivers are about $100 for both or something like that.
