Some of you can probably enlighten me...

If I posted in the wrong place feel free to move/delete.

Let me preface with the fact that I'm probably considered a newbie in the audio world.

Over time I've become more critical of my system while watching movies. I began to notice (something I hadn't before even though I'm sure it occurred) a faint distortion during various points of dialogue in some movies. It appears to happen when a voice is elevated.

I am not really sure the disturbance should be classified as distortion, but it's an audible "fuzziness" that occurs at the end of an elevated dialogue scene. It is not prolonged and happens for basically the final word or few words. Sometimes when I think I hear it, I have to rewind and I'll go up to the center to confirm. Like I said, it's tough to pick up usually.

My friends, and fiance can't even tell it happens, but I SURE CAN! I played with treble and different sound formats. DTS seems to have less of it than Dolby, but this could just be coincidence as some movies don't exhibit the aforementioned trait.

Pertinent components: Pioneer Elite 74TXvi, Def Tech. Center CLR2002, BP8B's mains, BP1.2x surr, SVS PB10. "Cheap" Sony Upconverter with digital coaxial out to receiver.

Any comments, help, suggestions would be much appreciated!

It's probably just in the mix. The 2002 is pretty clean so it will play what's available.

I was hoping it could possibly be something like this, but I'm not sure how common it is.

Can you give an example of a movie and scene? Some film transfers have botched audio in some places.
