SOLVED: JVC OVERLOAD problem

Hi, I'm an audio surround noob. I have a JVC 7520VBK receiver and 5.1 speakers hooked up to it. The front two are :

Main Speakers - Kenwood JL-508
Sensitivity is 92 dB/W at 1 m
Frequency response is 45Hz to 20kHz
Normal impedance is 8 omhs
I have 4 other speakers (two rear, middle and sub) from a cheapo dvd-all-in-one. I can't find too much information for them however :

REAR SPEAKERs- Prima HT8104
4ohms
all 5.1 = 600w
Subwoofer = 8ohms < 150w
Here is the information from my manual about my receiver:

RECEIVER
JVC - 7520vbk
Amplifier
Output During Surround operation:

FRONT: 100w per channel min. RMS, driven into
8ohm at 1kHz with no more than
0.8% total harmonic distortion

REAR: 100w per channel, min. RMS driven into 8ohm
at 1kHz with no more than 0.8% total distortion.
The problem is: I keep getting "OVERLOAD" when it goes above 23ish/50 volume. I am thinking perhaps there may be a short circuit somewhere? Another possible idea is that I used cheapo speaker wire (original wires stripped for cheapo speakers) and they aren't all that high grade? Let me know if there is anything wrong with this setup or am I better off switching the two front Kenwood speakers for the cheapo front speakers? (kenwoods sound much better)

Its not the Kenwoods

The problem is not with the 8 ohm Kenwoods, but rather the 4 ohm "cheapos" (your words, not mine ;) ).

The 4 ohm speakers are causing the amp to go into and display OVERLOAD at higher volumes. Page 5 of your manual is poorly written, but clearly implies 8 ohms is the minimum impedeance required for speakers connected to this JVC amp.

TO FIX: Replace the center channel and two surround "cheapos" with 8 ohm speakers.

Cheers,

Thank you!! I solved it by playing with the wires at the back and pushing the "subwoofer" input more tightly in the back.

Perhaps your response could also be the issue in my Dolby Surround sound issues as well?

HI I have same problem with jvc so I opened it up and where the speakers hook up to receiver I found a loose strand of speaker wire so will let you know if that works
