Solution for Impossible Situation (6' Ceilings)

The only space I have available for a designated listening room is in my basement which has 6 foot ceilings. the dimensions are 13’x13’x6’ with three of the walls being concrete foundation.

I felt confident in my decision to start with a pair of Bower Wilkins 603 s2 Anniversary speakers and Denon AVR-X4700H. I’m thinking of using a Topping DX7 Pro ES9038Pro Dac from my computer to the AV receiver to play my Amazon Music HD and an Apple TV 4k into my AV receiver for movies. Now I've completely change gears.

The more research I have done, the more I feel like there is no good solution for 6 foot ceilings. I would like to find a high quality 5.1 system and I'm open to any ideas even if it is a 2.1 system that will sound cleaner. I'm trying to narrow down what type of speakers will perform best given the situation and knowing how bad of an impact 6 foot ceilings have on sound waves, I see that the B&W floor standing speakers are overkill. So I am wondering how Bose In-Wall Virtually Invisible 691 would do or If I need to find something even smaller.

I'd appreciate any insight on the matter.

Hopefully you're not that tall....I dated a gal with an illegal apartment with 6' ceilings....I did have to watch out for the fire sprinkler heads and I'm only 5'10". :)

Probably not gereat for Atmos type setups but regular surround should work fine if you have good placement options.

Not a B&W fan of the 6 series myself, would look elsewhere. I wouldn't bother with an external amp to plug into the avr. I wouldn't ever buy Bose.

Thanks for the feedback. Any suggestions for limited vertical dispersion speakers?

I'm with Lovinthehd on Atmos not being a fit, but 5.1 should be Okay. Can you advise the Room dimensions and key seating locations. Perhaps post a diagram or photos (or both) of the floor plan. Give us your budget and we can try to fill in the list of equipment.

I'm not certain you'll hear any appreciable difference by using a DAC in a PC to feed the signal into the 4700, or just going with the Audio out via an HDMI connection into the 4700. Do you have the DAC & 4700 in hand or are they on a wish list? I doubt you'll gain much support here for any Bose speakers => in wall or cabinet. There's far better equipment available at those price points.

First, I misspoke....meant to say I wouldn't use an external dac into the avr (amps on the brain I guess, but external amps could be useful depending on your speakers/needs).

You mean something like the JBL Studio 5 series perhaps?
