Budget is about $3500, it will be running NHT VT-2 and a full set up of other NHT speakers to complement the VT-2

I'd say this time around, go with a less expensive receiver, and add a monster two channel amp. For that money, I'd go with a Yamaha RXV 4600 (msrp $1899) and use the rest to power those inefficient VT-2's that yearn for the added headroom. 88dB at 6 Ohms is killer on a receiver IMO.

Do you still want to go with separates and how big is your space? Do you have any features desires?

An Outlaw 990/770 combo for $2700 is a great deal.

:( If I may ask. why did you get rid of your 4802? I also have one. my speakers are 4 Ohms and I have a large room and like to listen pretty loud so I just upgraded my power. up front for my L&R I picked up an Accuphase amp. for my center channel I got a Hafler thats bridged to mono. I got both of those GREAT amps on Ebay for far less then $3500.00 and they sound very nice.

Yeah me too. I'm getting ready to pick up a Marantz Mono block amp for my center channel and switch the Hafler back to stereo for the surrounds that way my next upgrade will be a pre/pros.
