Damn Bic Venturi, Damn Amazon.com, Damn the UPS driver.....

One of these culprits broke my speaker before it even arrived so I'm stuck waiting for a replacement AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoever did it knew they did it because they tried to repair the damage to the box that my speaker shipped in with box sealing tape, even though if you looked through the clear tape you could OBVIOUSLY SEE that my speaker cabinet had a 4 inch gap in the bottom corner where it had been IMPALED.

Thats just WRONG

o.k. I vented and I feel much better now.
thank you.

That sucks, dude. I've never had that happen, but I've seen it happen at work with a computer monitor. We got a big CRT from NEC and someone tried to cover up the fact that they made a monitor sheesh-kabob with a forklift. Not to make light of your situation, but do know that you're not the only one to get the shaft (though I'm sure it does feel like it).

Well, I'd be sure to email or call Amazon and try to get things worked out.

Thanks man. Ya know what gets me even worse is that I had to drive 35 miles to my cousins house to pick these up because I work and go to school 15 hours a day and can't be home to sign for this kind of stuff. My cousins a good dude, he was gonna let me hook them up into this stereo system to try them out before I brought them home and he's the one who found the damaged speaker while we were taking them out of the box. So long story short.... I drove 70 miles roundtrip for nothing..... not to mention the hassle of having to return this and also not having any speakers for the football game this Sunday. If I were in court I'd be going for big time punitive damages!!!
Oh well, what can you do right? Amazon got an email from me and thats about it for now...

When he asked you to sign for it, you should have punched the pen through his face.

In all probability it was not the delivery person who damaged the package. That speaker went on more than a few conveyer belts and was transfered several times before it reached its' destination. It could have been damaged just about anywhere. I once had a 16mm projector shipped to me that arrived in many pieces. The delivery man didn't try to hide it, in fact he told me that the projector had fallen off of a conveyer belt. The projector was a total loss and insurance covered it.

they get ya every time.

ive had lots of bad experiences with shipping companies & drivers, they suck.

altec 19 speakers, fedex, shipped from cali to michigan arrived at my house with only 1 box, fedex lost the other speaker & never could account for where it went, they only paid me half the insurance claim because the speaker that did arrive wasnt damaged, just try finding a single speaker to replace the 1 that was lost.

mcintosh mr 85 tuner, ups, tuner was left on my back steps in the rain because we were not home, found tuner the next day soaking wet, water damaged the display & ups denied the claim.

mcintosh mc500 amp, ups, neighbor watched ups drop the 100lb amp off the dolly while going up the steps, broken glass face, ups paid claim but not until i had a notorized statement from the witness, the driver denied the whole thing.

vti equipment rack, fedex, rack arrived with 1 side of the box completely flat from being run over with a fork lift,i never even unpacked the rack, fedex paid the claim.:)

klipsch heresy's,ups,1 box had visable damage, unpacked speakers & could hear ratteling in 1 speaker & the woofer wouldnt work, box was slammed so hard that the magnet was torn off the woofer, ups paid the claim.:)

adcom gfa 565 monoblocks,fedex,1 box had alot of damage,1 amp had a heat sink fin bent inwards, fedex denied the claim.

jbl l250 ti speakers, ups, both boxes arrived damaged,1 speaker had its riser completely smashed & the other speaker had a crack in the cabinet, ups paid the entire claim.:)

shanling cdt 100 cd player, fedex, box arrived so damaged i could see inside it,i refused the package & it was sent back to the dealer, the dealer opened the box & found the transformer completely torn off & hanging, dealer sent me a new player.:)

the worst & most ignorant was with dhl,i had my mc1201 monoblocks being shipped from cali to my house with a scheduled delievery for a wednesday evening,my wife came home from work on her lunch break on tuesday to find both amps just sitting in my front yard with no sign of dhl & she couldnt lift boxes weighing over 150 lbs each, she had to call me at work & wait while i came home(2 hour commute) & help me lug the boxes inside.

when i called dhl to complain about them leaving 16k worth of electronics just laying by the curb a day early the lady on the phone asked me that if they were not damaged then why was i complaining:mad:

anymore i wont buy gear that i cant pick up in person, its just too much stress when stuff gets damaged fighting with shippers trying to get reimbursed.

In my experience, if the delivery driver "found" the damage, the driver will be very eager to "show" the damage to the customer.

If the driver "caused" the damage, the driver will try to "hide" the damage from the customer.

Acceptace of responsibility is difficult, but passing the buck unto others is very easy.

A case in point, most freight & package companies have digital camera's on their loading docks for the staff to photo damage goods as they are found on the inbound freight trucks. In the event the freight or package company can prove the point of damage, the company will charge off the damage claim against the terminal who caused the damage. Management of terminals with significant damage claims will quickly be seeking a new job.

In other words, the whole system is set up to blame the other guy. Which just about proves when the driver does not identify the damage, the driver most likely caused the damage. (may be not, but the package did fall off the shelf in his truck as he rounded the corner at 35mph). By the way, check the back of the delivery trucks. Many drivers carry a tape dispenser and a couple spare boxes. Hmmm, I wonder why?

This blame the other guy is pervasive. I deal with damage & missing shipments (as the receiver and shipper) on a regular basis. Everybody wants to blame somebody else. I just love it when we insure a package for big bucks and the freight/package company loses the shipment. The first question is always "are you sure you shipped the goods?" Nah, I just love spending money for insurance on shipments that I never made.

Why would she care? You got your goods, so shut up.

Oops, sorry, I wasn't suppose to recite the DHL policy.

I had manufacturer documents shipped via DHL. DHL contacted the driver and then claimed that nobody was at our business to accept the delivery between 9 AM and 10:30 AM.

And the driver could never be wrong(?)

Funny thing, not so funny, the drive way to our business was blocked by the Fire Trucks etc that were servicing the adjoining building that was on fire. We all were standing in the parking lot conversing with the employees of the adjoining business.

I never saw the DHL truck go by. Not that I was really paying much attention. But somehow the driver never saw the fire trucks either.

And the driver is NEVER wrong.

But before I rant too bad about DHL, I heard one about a business employee finding Fed EX next day letters in the business trash dumpster. If true, I am sure the Fed EX representatives claimed the letters had been properly delivered.
