So my screen finally came. But.....

....it is heavier than I magined it. Or lets just say it was out of stupidity. :D Anyway I'm not sure if the spotlight box that I made to the ceiling will handle the weight of the screen.

What I'm thinking so far isto make drill holes through the spotlight box to the wooden panel ceiling and use some kind of a hooking mechanism.....

But I'm still open to suggestions and if you know of any mechanism

I'm not sure what you mean but whatever kind of mount you use it should be attached to the wooden beams. Drywall can only handle about 8 pounds.

Yeah I not sure where the beam is in the ceiling and screen weighs 11kg.

I think the ceiling beams are 16" on center just like wall studs. Either way a good stud sensor will help you find them. The Zircon Pro LCD is the one that I like the best so far out of the few I've tried.

Sorry MDS I think I forgot to mention that the screen is a projector screen :)

No worries, I understood that. Your issue is hanging it from the ceiling, right? If it weighs 11 kg (28.6 lbs?) the mount will almost certainly have to be attached to a beam.

Seriously, I have no life.

What kind of screen is it? Manufacture and model.
Is it motorized, pull down, or attached in a frame?

Most motorized and pull down screens that I have seen, have holes already pre-drilled into the housing so you can use them for either hanging from rafters on chains, or screwing into the wall.

The attached to a frame screen, just hangs like you would a painting / picture.

If you do not have a stud to screw them into make sure you use a big drywall anchor. I used small dry wall anchors on my 8' pull down screen, and after like 4 months, 1 side pulled out of the wall and crashed on a speaker. The anchor was spec'd to hold 40lbs, and my screen weighs 35lbs.

We moved 1 month later to a house, and now the wife won't let me set it up. She doesn't want holes in the wall. blah! I can't stand having to worry about WAF. I should divorce her and find a wife who is a audioholic, and can appreciate a real home theater. lol, those women are rare. But then again...I could always find a convert...like Dina. A hot, geek, nerd, closet audioholic. Before we know it, we'll be seeing reviews on audioholics by her. I saw her on hot-or-not wearing a cheerleader outfit. !!smoking!!

I just hate having 2 good 8' screens sitting in my garage.

The make is a Reflecta and the model is starlight. Pull down. I dont think it is that popular and I think it was made in germany. yes it does have holes for hooking it up, and suspenders. The thing is how to suspend it cause i'm trying to avoid your situation as i dont the screen come tumbling down in the middle of a cool movie. Then my mains will be ruined.

As for the wife issue you will have to train her. Of course audioholic chicks are interesting. My wife surprises me all the time asking me when do we buy the projector cause she wants to watch some movies. Chick flicks. She is not much of an action girl. But anyway she is very enthusiastic about getting the HT system in place. And she does love the Fatsinger when it shakes the ground. She will become a full convert with time.
