... doc checked me out, somewhat. didn't seem all that thorough. he said i have Osteoarthritis, ummm, i don't think so.

anyway. he said to go get a blood test. so i did. i called him for the results, a few times. he has yet to call back. about 4 months.

is he wanting me to make another appointment = $$, to get the results ?
i think so. but is this SOP ? or is he milking the insurance, and me ?

yeah. i was thinking of finding a new doc. but i am wondering if my last doc's protocol is par for all doc's or whatever. i guess i should ask the new doc before seeing him/her.

No, it is not proper protocol. Further, if the test had a result that indicated further testing or need for treatment, it could be a legal problem for this physician. That is not much consolation to you when it is your health.

As others have said, it is time to find a new physician and I would suggest getting recommendations from others. For myself, I typically go to seek medical care from physicians tied to teaching hospitals as I find that the average care and expertise is higher.

i had thought that too.

i just picked this doc off the web. he is very close to me. but there are many others that are also close. i have not had a need to go to a doc or hospital, for myself, in 25+ years. so i don't have a personal doc.

oh. stop posting so much, post hog :D

Once you turn 45, it is best to have a personal doc for annual exams. Best to keep things in check (blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prostate, skin cancer checks, etc.).

Just when I turned 46, I went in for a routine exam. The doc thought that a mole on my arm looked a little odd. I thought, at worst, it would be BCC or SCC. Turned out it was full blown melanoma. Next thing I know, I am sitting in the office of a surgical oncologist and he says I need immediate wide excision to see how big of a problem I have. After surgery, the lab comes back showing only shallow depth and clean margins (got it early). If not caught at my annual exam, it could have been MUCH worse as this can often lead to a very early death. I am one of the lucky ones.

I will NEVER skip the annual exams again.
