So, I managed to arrange a speaker demo -- now what?

Well, I managed to talk some into letting me demo their newly constructed Orions. After months of back and forth e-mailing, the guy says I can come over this weekend.

However, I've never done a speaker demo before. What's considered proper etiquette? Should I bring something over (besides music) as a gift? What's a normal amount of time to spend listening to them?

I don't really know this guy save for a few e-mails, but I know he's local and he's reputable (college professor).

Any tips would be welcome.

I've had a few people over for demos. They always brought something- like a bottle of wine etc- even though I never asked.

Just good form, I think.

You might want to offer to bring something and see what this person says. Perhaps you buy the pizza and sodas?

I let them stay as long as they liked. They brought their own music and movies and we had some fun. A couple of guys were in town from across the country for business and stayed over a couple of hours. Another guy came by and only stayed for 20 minutes or so.

Good communication up front is key as you don't want to over stay your welcome or abuse their hospitality. :)

Thanks for the advice.

I got in touch with him a few hours ago and he laid down the rules. He'll have me over for about an hour and I can bring whatever music I like (CD only; the vinyl is out of commission at the moment).

I'm compiling a playlist now for tomorrow afternoon. I'll post it here shortly.
