Smaller Cabinet Sub than SVS 10 or HSU VTF-2?

It appears that either the SVS PB 10 NSD or HSU VTF-2 10" subs are considered good choices. The SVS is 19'H, 15"W, 21" D. The HSU is smaller at 19.5H, 14W, 18D.

Any recomendations for something in a smaller cabinet and how much would I be giving up? I could pay more than HSU or SVS (much cheaper than divorce).

Thanks

Have you considered a tube....aka water heater design....at only 16" diameter? I had limited space for a box and bought a tube for the best of both worlds.

I would like to know as well

Hey guys just a short note here on sealed subs. I would love to hear (read) the reviews on the new sealed SVS 12" sub. I just a couple of weeks ago picked up a Martin Logan Dynamo sub. Long story had a Velodyne VX-10 and was not happy with it (granted it is their cheapest 10" sub and is only rated @ 100 watts FTC) although I am very aware that Velodyne makes great products. Anyway the Salesman I bought it from, and have known for a couple of years now looked me straight in the face and told me to take it home, listen to it for a week and call him to let him know what I think. Well let me tell you I actually did call him back. I have been consistently blown away by this thing. It is like having the bass player from many a band in my room. Recordings I have heard 1000 times now have me listening to them again and again. I have a Velodyne DLS-3750R in my living room and I WAS very happy with it. Now it just sounds slow and bloomy, not boomy, but bloomy. It is nowhere near as fast and it doesn't understand the word tight. All this being said this little thing only has a 200 watt BASH amp in it. Now it is more than enough for my bedroom or living-room for that matter. But I have to wonder how well that 12" SVS will do. I know Martin Logan is one of the tops quality wise, and all I can say is WOW. I am now a sealed sub fan for life. The ability of this thing to grab each and every note of the bass guitar all the while belting out the drum hits is something to experience. Anyway sorry for the rambling just had to chime in.

I agree - ML's are a bit more pricey pound for pound, but they sound fantastic. I like the fact with yours that you can adjust it from downfiring to front firing for more impact. The only issue is you must buy ML's from a brick and mortar shop to obtain any type of warranty. There's no internet savings on ML's.

A little research told me a lot

Hey thanks Buckeyefan, I tell you once I found out that this is the same driver as is in the $2800 Descent it all started to make more sense. True to your word it was not cheap but I feel I still got a phenominal sub for what I paid. Now here is the REAL problem, fitting the Descent into my future plans, at some point I will simply just have to bite the bullet. As I made a terrible mistake and auditioned one SILLY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
