Hello audioholics,

I would like to spend about $200 dollars on an active pair of speakers to work through apple's airport express.

ideally, i would like to use the digital out on the thing, but it is not a requirement. would getting a digital imput on active speakers push me over $200?

any recommendations? I listen mostly to classical, and will be listening in a small room with all to wall carpet. I'm used to my paradigm studio 80's back home, but i just moved and can't ship everything.

thanks!

I can't think of any active speakers that have a digital input...

... much less for $200. Your best bet is to check out some of the better computer speakers.

Cambridge Sound Works has some nifty offereings that might scratch your itch, though.

There aren't too many speakers yet that have a direct digital input, but for just a bit outside your budget, I can personally recommend the Advent AV570. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005LACB/104-1070673-2285519?v=glance

I have had their papas, the Acoustic Research Powered Partner 570, for almost 15 years. Supposedly the Advents are exactly the same. Rugged, decent sounding, compact. Haven't heard anything else in that price range that is as good.
