Hey guys,
I am looking for a pair of slim speakers that I can mount on a wall for a condo that my parents own. They need to be fairly inexpensive, around $300 US for the pair. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How large is the room they will be playing in?

Couple Of Boston Acoustics Options...

OneCall has both Bravos and P430s on sale. The Bravos (I believe these are the older models, not the current Bravo IIs) have had very good feedback for discreet on-walls. The P430s, which are almost identical in specs and design to the Bravos (only they have an additional passive radiator which should help for bass response), are a bit slimmer in design and are geared to slim profile placement such as wall mount LCD and Plasma TVs. The ones I linked are refurbs, but if they're anything like the VR3s I picked up a few months ago from OneCall, you won't be able to notice the difference and you'll be able to pick up a pair for less than half the going price. -TD

The room is about 8x15, but we're not worried so much about acoustics and everything, they just want something better than tv speakers, that is wall mountable, and doesnt stick out too far.

not sure if this would be anything of interest to you, but if speaker intrusiveness is an issue, perhaps in-wall speakers?

In walls cant be done in this room because it backs up right to another apartment, and the walls are really really really thin.

One system that I have been wondering about is the new Athena WS (athenaspeakers.com). The WS-15 sells at Audio Advisor for $175 for the pair or the WS-60 sells for $200 each. They are listed as being 4 inches thin and about equally as wide.

Has anyone seen or tried them? I have the Athena Micra 6 system which I think is very good and might work for your parents - the last time I looked you can get the complete 5.1 system for about $300. I might even be tempted to sell them after 15 mos of use - just getting some upgraditis. ;-)
