What time frame do you mean for Denon because both of my players had/have been excellent. Very well built and I put many hours on both of them.

The Oppos are not so well built, but that is how they achieve the price. Performance wise, it is very hard to beat them.

Define "not so well built". I've had mine for about 6 months with no issues. It gets pretty regular use and works as advertised. Picture quality on my 4 year old CRT-RPTV is excellent. There are occasionally some minor MB issues, but nothing that has ever ruined the movie experience. Also, my understanding is this is a software issue, not a build-quality issue (Faroudja processing has a tendancy to MB enhance on some displays). As for build-quality, the unit seems constructed as solid as any of my other components (except for the flexy disc tray...I'll give you that one..it's a little strange, but perfectly functional). Not trying to jump on you...just curious if you're aware of some issues I should know about?:)

No quality issues that I know of, just saying that the way they kept the cost down was by making these things as simple as absolutely possible. The tray being a big one. It isn't exactly solid and sturdy feeling, but I don't really see it as a liability because they do work fine. if it lasts 2 years, I will be satisfied.

:confused:I have seen differing opinions regarding macroblocking and what sets seem more affected. More consistently plasma and DLP have been mentioned as prone to the problem and less so with LCOS/SXRD. I am looking at a new upconverting DVD player to be used with a JVC rear projection 720P TV. Any thoughts regarding the Oppo vs another DVD player? I am tempted by the Denon 2930ci but the reliability of Denon has been a real problem recently.
Thanks

I'm on my second Denon DVD-1930CI. The first one developed problems with the tray. It sounded like a loud clicking sound and it was very loud. It played all the dics fine but the loud clicking sound was not a good sign.

My second 1930CI seems to be working good, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'd love to see a failure rate comparison, of many of these players...fat chance of that though.
