Skinny on the Velodyne DD15

I've been using the Velodyne DD15 in a 2 channel setup for about 2 weeks. I had always avoided 2.1 setups before because I found it difficult to dial-in a sub using a 2 channel pre. I plan on moving the DD15 to a 5.1 setup shortly for testing purposes.

The DD15 is a tank. It is the size of a small refrigerator and weighs even more. Build quality is excellent.

I love the self equalizing features. Set the microphone up where you sit and the DD15 does approximately 20 sweep tones to calibrate your EQ. The DD15 made substantial changes to the EQ after it ran its tests, with excellent sonic results.

I have the DD15 video out hooked up to a wireless Sony TV. I used the OSD to set the crossover to 42 and left the slope unchanged. I'm sure I could do more tweaking, but the DD15 sounds amazing at the moment.

It has extremely tight response and blends seamlessly with the Ref.3s I am using. It never hints at getting boomy and always seems to be delivering bass in a controlled powerful manner.

Highly recommended to anyone looking for a great sub for a 2.1 or multichannel system. Excellent for music, and I assume, HT.

Had I known it was going to be so good, I would have sold my liver eariler to get it.
