It might be heresey but I kinda thought Gilmour did his most creative work on the first solo album... ie All Lovers Are Deranged !
I agree, his first solo album is very good, but All Lovers Are Deranged is from his second album, About Face. IMO AF doesn't quite measure up to his first release, others may disagree though.
PF's Division Bell, I feel, more than holds its own and is miles better than A Momentary Lapse of Reason - a fairly weak album IMO. Hearing Richard Wright's vocal contribution, (on Wearing the Inside Out), helped make DB that much better for me.
While on solos, Richard Wright's 1978 solo album, Wet Dream, is a true delight. Part jazzy, part melancholy, nice guitar work by Snowy White and smooth sax by the incomparable Mel Collins, all surround Wright's fragile vocals. A true gem of an album.
