Anyone gone out and seen it yet? I have read some pretty good reviews but have vowed to avoid movie theaters until there is one worth going to.

Just curious about opinions.

So far its doing really well review wise.

Of course it is doing well in regard to reviews. Who would be stupid enough to go against the enormity of The Simpsons? Don't get me wrong, I love The Simpson's and the previews are really funny, but I think the global adoration of our four fingered friends makes reviewing the movie totally pointless.

Just saw it tonight, I always try to avoid watching too many previews, or hearing too much about a new movie that I want to see, because I will be somewhat disappointed when I see the movie because I will be expecting more then the movie could ever deliver; and I did see a number of previews for The Simpsons moive... but I wasn't totally disappointed after seeing it. There are episodes I liked better, but the movie was pretty much a big episode.

Oh, and if anyone sits through to the end of the credits, does anything happen? My friend and I wanted to see if they put something in after the credits, but his wife wanted to leave.... the credits are looooooong.

This was dominating two THX screens at the VUE cinema on Thursday well one actually it was (interlocked) and a few other substandard screens now that is taking the Mickey and I wanted to see Fantastic 4 in THX. So did I bother seeing The Simpson’s in THX no way, bugger that.

Just got back from seeing this.. Totally worth it. Not the Simpsons of yesteryear, but not the new crap either.

I am looking forward to watching it when it comes out on DVD. (I don't go to theaters any more. I greatly prefer my HT.)

I think you are in the majority here. I almost always wait for the DVD/HD release now especially since I got my netflix account.

Bah, you guys just need better local theaters. Move to Canada, we really don't have crappy theaters anymore.

1) No cell phones. 2) No screaming babies. 3) Nobody saying "what just happened?" every 30 seconds. 4) I can drink beer. 5) I can pause the movie for RR breaks (refer to item 4. :D) 6) Much better sound. 7) When it is over, I am already at home instead of having to drive home. 8) If it is a bad movie, I can take it out and watch something else instead. 9) If it is good but too long, I can stop it when I am tired and finish it another day. 10) No commercials, and I can skip the previews.

I understand commercials are lame, but I really enjoy previews. The simpsons movie has the worst preview though (Can you say live action chipmunks movie?).

I personally think movie are better when viewed in a large group. Everyone in a while I have a movie night at my place and there is 6 people for those. Even old movies that we've watched to death are still funny. The next one is this Saturday for 300.

I saw it tonight. I have read reviews that said it was great and lame but nothing in between. I thought it was in between. Nothing much was new in the humor style but the animation was better (more 3d). Unfortunately, nothing about the animation quality had much to do with making the movie better. I thought it was a very good, long TV episode with a more ambitious plot, kinda like the X files movie. As usual, Homer gets himself and, in this case, everybody else in trouble by being a jerk but pulls something out of his hat just in time to save Springfield. Maggie helps too. References abound to various sci-fi movies, most notably Independence Day. Flanders gets to stretch out his character a little and is really a pretty nice guy.

Not much after the credits...

I saw it the movie was great. I sat through the credits, not much happening during them. A couple of pokes at audience members who sit through the credits, stuff like that. You didn't miss much.

What you guys need is one of those Movie Taverns! My wife and I saw The Simpsons movie at Studio Movie Grill. That place is great and there are probably similar places almost everywhere.

SMG is a movie theater where you can eat and drink (including alcohol) during the movie and people under 18 have to be accompanied by an adult. It rocks...clean, quiet, and you can order food and drink beer.

The only thing you can't do is pause the movie  !
