Simple problem - too complicated

Got a new Samsung 32" HDTV over Xmas and have only just realized that it doesn't have a headphone socket

Can anybody recommend a really simple amp (or something) that will simply let me use headphones with this TV? I've had a look around and it all seems too complicated - I can't seem to find a simple little stereo amp with a headphone socket.

I still can't quite believe the TV doesn't accommodate headphones

I just got a 32" Samsung 1080p HDTV too. I bought a 2 RCA male to 1 3.5mm female cable. There are two RCA audio output jacks on the back of my TV to connect to. I was going to plug some computer speakers into the female connector that have their own amplifier and volume control because the HDTV speakers suck. You might be able to connect headphones this way instead of speakers. I don't know about how the sound volumes will match but the cable was less than a buck from one of the on-line cable sellers. It was probably monoprice.com but I have been using another vendor - cable-to-go.com or something like that. Good luck.

Here is the type that I have used before. It's exactly what Exit said in his post but may give you a visual clue. As he stated, I'm not sure how great the sound would be, but you used to be able to pick these up for cheap at any Radio Shack or big-box retailer (Wally/China-mart, Target, K-mart, Best-Buy, Circuit City <oops>, etc). I'd say it's probably worth trying to see if it will meet your needs. Cheaper than other options for now.

Well, you can try the adapter others mentioned - they'd be cheap to try, but the volume levels might be too low for, depends on headphone impedance.
Other option would be to get wireless headphones :)
