My first attempt at making speaker stands. I am not a carpenter by any means and this is really my first attempt at any sort of DIY project that involves carpentry. I cut two 14x14”sections of 3/4” MDF for the speaker platform and two 18”x12” 3/4” MDF sections for the base with three 2’x4”’s cut into 28” sections and put some Dayton Audio isolation spikes on the base section. My previous stands weren’t doing well with the 35lb+ Mirage HDT-F’s so I had this crazy idea. Total cost was $29.73 for both. I know it could be a million times better but I had to start somewhere. Also don’t mind the mess, the walls are in the process of being renovated and the floor is next FINALLY! After almost a year of planning and waiting

Maybe omit the middle 2 X 4 for cleaner look and move the 2 inward, somewhat?

I'm using 2 simulated wood TV trays for my mains, from Target Store, sometime back. Not exactly show pieces, in basement rec room environment. lol

Your home made stands, should do well for you!

Great start to a DIY project. For a little more stability, move the 2 outer supports back and the middle support forward (or visa versa). Having them lined up allows movement front to back and side to side. By creating a triangle it will be much more stable. Just needs a coat of paint to dress them up. Use flat black (not gloss) as the flat finish will help hide any imperfections in the wood.

I made my own a couple years ago, but used 4 × 4 lumber for the columns. That gave them some weight and made for some pretty sturdy stands.

I'd stagger the legs into a triangle but rotate the rear one 90° for more stability. After you get them re-positioned, take it apart to sand (as it will be easier) and do the first coat(s) of paint. Then assemble and paint as necessary.
