Silicone caulk, or most any other caulk, is a good way to seal the seams inside a speaker cabinet. Your plan on using a mixed acrylic & silicone caulk should be fine.

The only potential problem with 100% silicone caulk is the solvent contains acetic acid. It smells like vinegar. The solvent fumes "might" damage something. I emphasize the word might because no one has tested this. If you use 100% silicone caulk, be sure to let the caulk dry overnight and let the cabinet air out before closing it.

As long as you let it dry fully, as directed by the label, it won't be an issue.

If this was really a problem, it would have been widely known long long ago by the speaker makers as a lot of them used a blob under the woofers to seal them up for about 40 years now.

I wonder where these crazy rumors get started?
