Signal Difficulties.

I own a Sony ES STR-DA 2400. When I start a movie sometimes the receiver doesn't recognize the digital signal. I have to physically turn the receiver off then back on then the "blue" engages. I have mounted a fan inside the receiver's shell too minimize overheating. Could this be the problem? Any suggestions?

The heat should not be the issue, not at start up when the signal is being translated and acquired. Not sure why it would have that problem. Is this through HDMI cable or just digital audio cable?
Can you start the dvd player and movie then just turn on the Sony? At least that would solve the restart.

Thanks for getting back to me. All my gear runs via HDMI. Good idea about turning on my Blu-ray first. I will have to disengage the "link" which turns everything on once I power up my BD player. Thanks Again.

I am pretty sure now that you have some old fashioned HDMI issues in that Sony. So, the sequence of components being turned on matters. Like some computers and programs need others on first to be recognized.
