Yes, it was prostrate cancer. He was diagnosed five years ago, put up a good fight, but was in hospice care at home for the last year (basically bedridden) which prevented him from doing any real work.
If you're male, you will almost certainly have prostrate problems as you age. Get your checkups ... after age 40, annually. As for "almost certainly", I know of one study of over age-70 males who died of other causes; autopsy results revealed virtually 100% had enlarged prostrate glands that would have killed them, if left untreated, had they not died sooner of unrelated causes.
