Welcome to the forum!

You won't want to use one of the audio outputs on your Yamaha, sorry to say. Pre-amp outputs have a variable level that is controlled by the volume setting on the receiver, so when you connect that to an amp (that doesn't have a volume control), your receiver will adjust the volume. The audio outputs on your Yamaha are not controlled by the volume setting and would be very loud unless you turn down the gain on the Niles using the knobs on the back, but you'd have no control over the volume except for those gain knobs.

I have 6 seperate volume controls for the amp. I thought I could use the receiver alone. The receiver was cutting out and the stere store it had too much of a load and recomended a seperae amp. I had already bought the the receiver before I bought the receiver. I think my only solution is to find a receiver that is compatable with the amp?

What sources were you looking to play? Are you referring to a Niles si1230?

I would suggest splitting the analog signals out and using a switch for them with the Niles. You can get a 4x1 switch for under $50
