As you might now by now, I've been a headphone fan since I was little. That's why I've been doing several headphones overviews this week and there is one that I simply can't leave behind.... The Shure SRH1540 Premium Closed-Back Headphones.
The SRH1540 is a full-size, circumaural, sealed headphone built with a very nice mix of synthetics, carbon fiber, aluminum, and steel. Ear capsules are black plastic with a large, carbon-fiber outer panels with the Shure logo on them. They feature Alcantara (memory foam) ear pads with large openings (62mm x 45mm) and are deep enough for most ears in order to offer maximum comfort and sound isolation.
Its cable is a six foot OFC "Y" cable that connects to the bottom on both ear pieces with MMCX coaxial, snap-on connectors, and is terminated with a threaded 3.5mm stereo plug on the other end. An 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter is also included. It is important to note that the headphones are non-folding to make them more compact, but a hard-shell case is also included for easy storage. As a nice detail from the company, a second identical spare cable and ear-pads for the headphone are also included.
