Shure Model 711 loudspeakers

I have a pair of Shure Model 711 loudspeakers in black cases. These are very heavy pieces and I downloaded the instruction or application sheets from the Shure website. I think they are discontinued and I don't really understand the six-page users manual but these are in good condition and I think they were bought in the 1980s. They were used in a night club.

I want to know their worth today. I would appreciate any comments.

Thanks,

They are a collector item really and not worth much. They are pro speakers. Shure tried to compete with the Altec Lansing and JBL pro speakers. Those speakers are a distant third, as the horn could not be crossed over below 2kHz. Without the Shure SR 106 electronic crossover to go with them, they were not even a good pro speaker. I don't think any body would use them in a pro installation now, and they are of no use as domestic speakers.

You would have to find a collector who was putting together a collection of pro speakers from that era. However it is speakers like the Altec Lansing Voice of the theater speakers, and speakers of that period of similar quality that collectors go for.

The most successful Shure speaker of that era, was the Vocal Master. As its name implies it was a good vocal speaker for live gigs. They sell on eBay for about $400 a pair.

I can not see that any of your speakers have sold. I would think they would command somewhat less than the Vocal Master.
