Should I use oppo dac

Hey guys I have a fairly cheap avr the denon 840bt and my setup is simply 2 jbl floorstanding speakers, my question is would it be a good idea to use the analog output on the player to take advantage of the oppo dac
what is the name of the cable i would need if i wanted to connect it up this way because my avr has 2 anolog inputs 1 red 1 white for left and same for the right where as the player only has 1 for front left and 1 for front right so i guess i need a cable which has 2 connectors one end and one connector the other?

Don't know if you'll hear any benefit from the external dac, but you'd only use one set of the analog inputs on your avr, from the outputs of the Oppo dac. Why do you think you'd need to connect it to two different inputs?

I don't see a model 840BT, is it the 540BT?

Yes sorry 540bt it has 2 red inputs for right and 2 white inputs for left which is why i say it has 2 inputs, where as on oppo it has just 1 for each so how do i connect it up?
also when anolog is connected up the hdmi main output on the oppo still can be connected to the avr right? or will this stop the analog audio from working and use digital?

Again, why would you use two different inputs simultaneously? You can only use one at a time and to use each input for the same thing makes no sense. You have one for "media player" and one for "cbl/sat", pick one.

Do you have an Oppo Sonica DAC or an Oppo bluray player? Now it sounds like you have a bluray player instead of the Oppo DAC I thought you were referring to in your OP. Unless you have the HDMI on the "media player" or "cbl/sat" input there wouldn't be a conflict in the avr; what you have to do for output in the Oppo unit you'll need to check the manual/settings in the Oppo for output.

What is your oppo model? Is its dac better than avr one?
