There is a whole group of Klipsche junkies that loves those things...

They have a older intimate sound - and a lot of history and 'soul'. They had some problems with time alignment of the drivers, that caused a lot of midrange suckout that I believe was fixed in III to some degree.

I'm not sure what they are worth, I know they keep a higher resale value than most speakers, but 550 seems high to me. I'm not an expert on the going rate though. You'll pay extra for the 'history'

I owened a pair in 75 very good speakers. Did replace them with JBL L65 Jubal. Price is a too high plus you might have to spend some money on them down the road.

The 2 questions are

1. Have you actually seen them and played them to make sure they are serviceable?
2. Have you listened to Cornwells somewhere to make sure you like the sound of that model?

If so, I would get them as great speakers, especially for 2 channel stereo....they will present some problems finding good matches if you want a 5 channel setup...
