Should I change to RBG from HDMI?

I'm wondering if I would gain any picture quality on SD chanels if I change from HDMI to component running from my Directv H20 sat reciever to my Panasonic TH-42PX6OU. The murky picture and over saturation red is driving me crazy. In the mean time My AVIA test DVD just came in and I will try to work with that over the weekend. My own adjustments gave me limited success. So what do you all think?
