First, this site is amazing! I am very gratefull and happy to see that people with the knowledge, choose to demistify some of the propaganda in the audio industry.

Secondly, I'd like some further advice. I live in canada and I'm looking to buy a Pioneer VSX 49Ti receiver. Unfortunatly, it's quite an expensive product up here, 6300 cnd. Thanks to the internet, I was able to find it for around 3500 cnd. My main worry is buying such an expensive product of the net safe? Which etailers have good reputation? Which should be avoided?

Basicly any tips you guys/gals have to offer would be very welcome. Thx

Just make sure it is factory authorized by Pioneer and they give a proper warranty from Pioneer. Go to Pioneer's website and check out the list for authorized web retailers for them.

Also be sure to use a credit card. Most have some kind of protection to ensure that you at least receive the product you ordered.

The 49TXI is an Elite product. As such no one can sell it online and have a proper warranty. Sorry for the bad news. I myself bought an Elite DVD the DVC-36 online over 2 years ago and never needed the warranty.

GOOD LUCK!

I would also suggest visiting the manufacturers' sites and being sure you locate an authorized dealer - unless the warranty isn't a concern to you (I've never had to use one).
