Hi All,

New to the forum and hope that some of you might be able to share your experience with me on the topic of speakers. I am looking for new main home stereo speakers. I have owned second hand B&W DM7 and KEF 105/3 but they have served their usful life- blown.

I will be listening to both of these brands and others you might suggest.

Budget: $ 1500-2000

I willl be running them with an older Denon AVR 2500.

Thanks in advance..

I listened to quite a few over the past two months (including B&W, Klipsh, Boston Acoustics, Definitive Tech,...) and I'm sold on the Monitor Audio Silver RS line (http://www.monitoraudiousa.com/). I didn't find anyone that matched their sound and build quality in that price range. Check out this recent review from Stereophile (http://stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/306monitor/).

Selecting speakers is very personal....listen to them all before ou decide...Good luck

Welcome to Audioholics. Quite frankly, you have to audition with your own ears. You'll get 100 opinions with 100 different suggestions...none of them right or wrong, just opinions on what they like. So you really have to listen for yourself.

You had some fairly decent speakers...I like the sound of B&W's. However, for 1/2 the price (of 703's) you can get some Paradigm Studio 100's, which I feel is a close second to the 703's, and still be well within your price range. In fact, you could even pair them up (2.1) with a Hsu, and still be under 2k. Oops, did I just give an opinion? Anyway, happy hunting.

Johnd gave a nice offering...do u currently use a sub? HT or music listening? Which do you do the most of? I'd still check out what KEF has in that pricerange esp. if your a big music man!

No Sub Yet

It has been a while since i have purchced any new sound equipment. This will be a start of a project for the next year or so.

I do not us a sub but will be looking into it. Although this will be mostly for music, i will be watching a fair number of movies. I will be ulitmatley put together a home theater system that has at its core audio for music.

Id still look at the KEFs....they're not going to drive as low for HT purposes....and you'll want to add a sub (svs or Hsu) at some point but they're very musical...

Speaker Options

I would also consider Axiom Audio, Paradigm, and PSB for speakers. Check out SVS and HSU for the sub.
