Page 13 in the manual of the Yamaha RX-V1900 states the ability to connect 4ohm speakers to the front outputs. I thought that was pretty cool to find in the manual, seeing as how this unit is priced these days.

Personally, I am not afraid to use 4ohm. I was just shocked to see it printed in a mid-fi manual.

I should check my RX-V1800 manual as the amp and power supply sections are identical to the RX-V1900.

On page 10 (printed page 10) or page 14 of the PDF

Check the type of the connected speakers.
If the speakers are 6-ohm speakers, set “SPEAKER
IMP.” to “6Ω MIN” before using this unit (see
page 33). You can also use 4-ohm speakers as the front
speakers (see page 117).

The caveat is to set the impedance switch selector to 6 ohms. I leave mine set as 8 and have no problems driving my PSBs which are 6ohm nominal to insane loudness levels
