UPDATE: I was incorrect. My new browser (Mozilla) kept my info. Yamaha still requires a login for routine support/research such as downloading a manual. Sorry for any who experienced a false sense of freedom, happiness, joy, and elation...

Now... if only RBH will follow this lead with their dealer locator which requires you to give an e-mail address and some other info."

Well I just tried to download the manual for a stereo receiver and have to sign up for the easy pass. So no you still have to register.:(

That's weird that you didn't have to sign up. Did you sign up for easy pass on a previous visit and it remembered some information ?

I was doing some research about a month ago between the Onkyo 3008/5008, the Denon 4311 and the Yamaha RX-A3000 and I noticed I was able to download the A3000 manual as well without having to sign up. My manual download was on 12/22. I tried going back to the Yamaha site just now - most of the owners manuals almost immediately ask to sign into Yamaha EasyPass (which I don't have), but the A3000 and A1000 Aventage receivers don't do that... they seem to run and almost timeout my browser. However, unlike before, the A3000 manual doesn't come up.

Regardless, it annoys me to no end that I have to sign up for Yamaha's stupid system just to receive basic information that every other manufacturer gives you unrestricted access to. Am I going to have to learn a secret handshake or something if I want to get my receiver serviced?

Yamaha's Online EasyPass system was developed to enhance and simplify your online experience.
Yamaha, you missed the mark a bit with 'enhancing' and 'simplifying'

That's strange. I don't have to log in at Yamaha.ca to download a manual...:p
