Shielded Power Cable

I have to run both power and video through a single floor joist space. I am running the power through sch 40 , and the video through another sched 40. the conduits run about 6" apart, and this is not changable (Pipes). In relation to interference, is there a shielded power cord? (I'm running 12-3 to an outlet above the projector, creating an "extension cord, so that the projector can be plugged into some sort of ups) Thanks

6" separation should be fine.

But, you could do an experiment with a current TV. Run the video cable right next to the power cable and see if you can see anything.

Found a power cord

Ram will make a teflon shielded power cord that will run the 30' I need, and plug diredtly into the back of the projector. They also agree that the 6" separation is more than enough with this cord. Costs about $160, which is OK, considering the circumstances, and avoids the "Code Questionable" extension cord. :D
Thanks for the help.

Why do you need teflon insulated? But 12ga power cable. Or, do you need a special plug? Make your own for far less.:D
Teflon is just a high temp insulation material, nothing more.

Not sure

My basic idea was to use a power cord that was unlikely to cause electrical interference with the video lines that will be about 6" away. Ram said that their teflon shielded cord, ( http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/power-cord.html#pcf ) would do the trick. It has the standard 3 prong "power cord" type of plug (sorry I don't know what they are called), and a regular 3 prong for the wall on the other end. These are not goint to be very accessable after installation, so I don't mind paying a little extra for "insurance".:)

After a little searching around the internet, $150 is a good price for a pre-terminated cable with that Belden cable. The best price I saw for cable alone was over $140!

Teflon will not shield it any better for RF or EM stuff any better. I would not waste my money on it for this use. Teflon has its uses, but not in audio, at home.

If you have a conduit, pull a cheap 14ga cable, add the plugs and try it. I don't think you will upgrade to Teflon afterwards:D

Mtry, you need to investigate the facts before you start preaching. If you had actually read about the Belden cable he's buying, you would've seen that it has a 100% foil shield and an 85% tinned copper shield with teflon insulation to achieve a Plenum rating. Try reading next time instead of assuming everyone is A. A moron or B. Loves magic cables.

He still doesn't need shielded cables. Try to change your tone towards me, or just stop responding to me, thanks.

If you have that 40sch conduit, you cannot pull in a power cable to test and replace it? 30ft of standard power cable shouldn't be that much to experiment with. But, if you cannot replace it easy, then that insurance is a good way to go, yes.
