Last year I bought a Sherwood RD 705i amplifier from eBay and paired it with Precision Acoustics Classic CT26 tower speakers from best buy.
When it was setup the stereo sound was amazing, even my partner who isn't an audiophile noticed how good the sound was and enjoyed watching movies and tv. Then...we had a storm and the amp died.
So after that I went hunting for a more well known brand and bought the award winning Yamaha RX 475 receiver.
However when I set it up with the same speakers the sound wasn't as amazing. With the Sherwood the sound came at you but with the Yamaha even with all the settings tweaking it still sounds lack luster.
Wish I could get the same type of sound with the Yamaha as I had with the Sherwood. Oh well that's speaker amp matching for ya I guess...
