How very interesting, I can only hope this means that LCD is reaching the ability to reproduce true black information.:)

Seriously, I have no life.
Hope this certification eliminates the need to having a calibrator calibrate your TV.

That may depend on Sharp if they set it to the right settings at the factory. But, it would be much easier to set it as it should have all the controls for it.

I'm not sure about Stateside, but in Canada BB doesn't carry the top end gear ie. Elite Pioneer etc. Anyway, I was in one yesterday looking at 50" panels...they had the new Pioneer & the Aquos side by side...same source (I'm assuming it was some sort of demo disc, or a really goos sat or cable signal) I gotta tell ya, the opinions of the pros on this forum are bang on! This whole 720p / 1080p business isn't as important as they(the manufacturer) would have us believe! The Pioneer was 720p, and the Aquos was 1080p...no comparison! The Pioneer was leagues above the Aquos...black levels, sharpness, video processing, contrast, colour trueness etc. I sat there for 20 mins to make sure...yup, the Pioneer truly is an awesome set. I can imagine how awesome the Elite 1080p will be when released in Sept. I've read many times on this forum how the resolution of a panel is only one factor determining it's overall quality...so true!!

I dont know about that. I was in futureshop the other day looking at the sharp and that tv is awesome. I would rather have a LCD which uses less energy, produces less heat, and supports 1080p for all future needs then a plasma that may burn from all the games I play, all for a little bit of black.
