hi folks, i need help with sharp display ( in particular aquos lc-46LE620UT) family member bought so i'm trying to research if pic quality can be improved out of the box. out of box pic looks unnatural. first question is -can it be calibrated with dvd kit? also if anyone has insight into these displays by sharp any info would be greatly appreciated- thanks in advance

Yeah, but...

... it takes a little bit of skill to do that. That's not to say one cannot do it themselves, but you should probably familiarize yourself with what video options the TV offers for adjusting the picture first. You'll need to know these when using a disc.

In fact, with a little common sense and careful adjustments to these, I'll bet you can probably make a fairly significant improvement by using them alone.

Spend a little time with the manual.

A good place to start is to take it out of Dynamic or Standard mode and put it into Movie mode. Movie mode is going to provide the most acurrate out of the box picture. You can make adjustments from there using a calibration disc like Avia or DVE. You should probably watch the tutorials on the disc before doing any adjustments if you have never done this before.
