I just moved into my sister's place. I hooked up my TV to an existing coaxial cable that had been there for years going unused. I connected the cable to the Verizon Set Top box which in turn connected another cable to my TV. The picture is great but I am getting what I call, severe static through the TV speakers and the soundbar. Am I getting this sound problem because of an old coaxial or is there something I have not connected properly? Could the set box be the problem?

Are you using a HDMI cable between the Verizon STB and TV?

Yes - I had my original one that was given to me with my STB and they gave me another one with one they just issued me. I have tried both and are getting the same results. I am wondering if it is the STB that is the problem.

Try a hard reboot / factory reset on the STB. Otherwise, check for firmware updates.

I had tried the multiple inputs but didn't try connecting the Audio portion of the HDMI cable directly to the soundbar. I did this and it now works perfectly.
Thank you.
