A couple of notes:
  • To take advantage of the lossless codecs, you must connect the BD370 to your receiver using an HDMI cable. If you use the coax or optical digital audio connections, you can't get them, and it will be just like a DVD player.
  • Set the HDMI audio output on the BD370 to "Primary Pass-Thru" as described on page 25 of the owner's manual.

I'll take a look at your receiver's manual.

While I'm doing that, what disc are you playing? More specifically, are you absolutely certain that you have it set to the Dolby TrueHD audio track?

What does the front panel on the receiver say? It should default to the "Straight" sound field.

well it just goes to the cinema dsp like it would for regular dvd, i put it in straight mode and had to turn mv up to -5 to sound still not as loud as on -13 w/ a sd dvd, and direct mode is even queiter and only in 2 ch. also if i go into signal info there is no bitrate sample, and channels it's only showing 3/2/0.0 when dvd it shows bitrate and 3/2/0.1.

I need to leave for a bit, but I'll be back and try to help out if this isn't fixed already. Sorry for the delay.

Unless I'm missing something in the LG manual you can set the 370 to bitstream via HDMI and the Yammy should automatically decode and play the appropriate audio format. See page 25 in the LG user manual under audio setup - PCM multi channel HDMI only.
You might also give the primary pass thru a go too. Either should work.

Okay, I still can't find the silver bullet because it seems like you should already be getting what you want.

However, here are some additional tips (see page 25 and 26 of the BD370 manual):
1. Set the Sampling Frequency to 192 KHz (shouldn't matter, though)
2. Set DRC to Off.

One of the things that came to mind right off the bat was the Secondary Audio signal setting, but the description in the manual seemed strange to me. Anyway, let's go ahead and turn that off. Try hitting the "PIP Audio" button (see page 10) on the remote to turn that off.

I just tried my BD-370 playing Iron Man and then Legends Of Jazz Showcase. Both are in TrueHD and both sounded fine. I have the 370 set for pass through and my Onkyo 606 receiver set for direct (no processing) for all inputs. The TrueHD light comes on on the receiver and it sounds fine.
