Hi guys,

As you might know I am putting together a new budget system (onkyo tx8020, q acoustics 2020, ibasso d7, yamaha yst sw012) This system is not yet playing music (waiting for my cable from monoprice) that I am thinking at the following upgrades:

Speakers: Harbeth P3esr
Sub: HSU STF-2 ??
stereo receiver: I'll wait and see how the tx8020 perform with the new components

Here is what you need to know.

- I am living in an appartment and never listen to high volume
- listening room is 12' × 18' × 8'
- I listen mostly to folk, blues, rock, jazz, rap (mostly on the go),
- I am set on bookshelf + sub set up
- I have around $3500 cdn (US $2600) to play with.

The plan is to use the A/B off the tx 8020 run cables and keep the q accoustics for the bedroom. Upgrade the sub (open to suggestion) See how the tx8020 handle the new speakers.

Note: I have already sent emails to Harbeth retailers in my region to listen to the p3esr ( I'll see if I could bring the tx8020 and listen the combo).
I give myself until March/April to make my mind.
I want the next component of my system to be keepers.

Do you guys have any food for thought?

Better way to spend this budget?

Went to audition the Harbeth and end up buying the Kef LS50 limited edition !

The biggest audible difference to my novice ears was the bass. Both speakers SQ was incredible IMO for bookshelf. Even if the look of the harbeth was a lot more appealing to me, it could not justify the $1k difference.

So I end up with the Kef for their overall SQ and better bass (to my ears) ... I have picked the black one with the blue woofer.
