Hi - I need some help please, my issue is as follows:

I have got a Coby TV (not the best I know but it's what I have..) which I want to connect to a Sony home theatre system. The issue I have is that the TV does not have audio out RCA connections. It has got two HDMI ports, 2 x AV-in RCA sets and two USB ports. I have got the DVD/Audio player connected with a HDMI cable (to Sony receiver) and RCA (to TV set) and it works fine through the theatre system but I very much want the TV sound through the theatre system as well. Is there a way to do this with the TV not having audio out RCA ports?
I am a novice with this type of thing so please bear with me...
Thanks

As you've noticed, you might be able to channel the audio from your soures directly to your audio system but there's no way to connect any tv audio out to it.

Like many modern TVs, your set has a plethora of inputs but, alas, it sorely lacks in audio outputs. Without them, you're out of luck in getting your TV sound through your audio system.

But, if your TV has a headphone jack you might be able to do it or, if it has digital outputs you should be able to do it with an external adaptor. Does it bave either?

It has got two HDMI ports
Are one of your TV HDMI ports labeled "ARC" on the TV itself or in the manual?
"ARC" indicates the port serves as both input and output.
If yes, I think you can simply run an HDMI cable from your TV ARC port to your AVR. Right, experts?

Welcome to the forum, Roliocat! What are the model numbers for you Coby TV and Sony receiver? That helps us look up information on them.

Absolutely right, if the receiver can accept it. Not all receivers can, and it's a relatively new feature (at least, after my 2009 Pioneer).

Thanks for the inputs - No it does not have any headphone jacks or digital outputs but I will check on the possibility of one of the TV HDMI ports being labeled ARC ( not close to the right TV now) but it does give me hope as both TV and receiver are new and I can hardly believe that in this day and age a TV would not have any sort of audio out capability....

What is the model number of the "Sony receiver" and does it support HDMI pass-thru?

Checked and TV definitely doesn't have any audio out capability so off to the guest room with it and will have to buy a new one.......
Thanks for the input guys.
