I recently purchased a "smart" home with 2 speakers pre-wired in almost every room. However, the in home system a (Elan) system was not functioning and I have disconnected most of it. But the control panels, speaker and volume controls are all still connected. It also had IR control (which i do not really need) and 2 control panels (one in the kitchen and master bedroom).
What i have right now is speaker connections (banana cables) in the basement for each of the speakers in the house. I have checked them and the connections and volumes controls are functioning.
What i am not sure about it what i need to get this system functioning. I am looking to keep the wired speakers (no need for wireless speaker, or any additional speakers, at this time. What i think i would like is a potential multizone system (maybe 2 or 3 zones), but also option to pipe same music to all speakers. I am looking a wireless connection to internet to manage audio connections to Pandora or otherwise. But also have a tool to maybe connect to digital music library remote via internet and control the audio from any laptop or tablet app (I do not want to go to basement to play music.)
I have a little experience but this is new to me and have been researching stuff, but think i have lost my way. Any advice would be appreciated in the components i need to achieve some of these goals, if possible. Thank you.
